The entire Church of ordained men takes an oath of celibacy and denies themselves the God- given privilege and gift of sex and intimacy with a woman. Again these man-made rules of denial and works are not found in the Bible, and have contributed to several problems for the Catholic clergy throughout the ages.
Another item of interest and cause for much controversy in the Catholic
Church teaching is The Baltimore Catechism. This book became a primary instrument to set forth and explain Catholic doctrine. This book was drafted in 1885 for Catholics in North America, and was prepared and enjoined by Order of the Third Council of Baltimore. The book was the standard Catholic school text in the United States from 1885 to the late 1960s and focused on the commission of sin by a person and failed to mention that we inherited a sin upon birth.
The Christian Church, on the other hand, teaches by the Bible that all have sinned, and have fallen short of the glory of God. In the Gospel of John Chapter 3, Christ teaches that we need to be born again by the Spirit of God to be free of sin and to receive Gods own nature so we can have eternal life. As stated by R. Lent, Catholics are continually going to confession to a priest to confess the sins they commit and receive a forgiveness which only lasts until their next sin is committed (R. Lent, personal communication, July 4, 2009). In my opinion, this is not a faithful way of living. A person would always be filled with guilt, fear and worry until he or she is able to confess such sin. Mr. Lent further explains to me that if a Catholic dies after committing a sin and before going to another confession, they will go to hell (R. Lent, personal communication, July 4, 2009). I believe that most Catholics still believe this to be the case. In an emergency situation however, they are instructed to say an Act of Contrition quickly as a deathbed sign of repentance and God will honor it. My former husband does not go to confession often and I believe he concentrates mostly on the Act of Contrition and feels he can be repented at his deathbed.
Christians confess their sins directly to God Himself. In the Bible John 1:9 we see that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from any and all unrighteousness (John 1:9, King James Version). The concept of confession to a priest only began in the 11th century at a Church Council meeting, and for 1000 years prior the entire church followed the Bible and confessed straight to God for forgiveness. While researching the Catholic religion, a story relates how a teenage Catholic girl goes to confession and tells the priest she made love with her boy ...

Preview: ... ccans. I posed several questions on June 11th, 2009, and most of what follows can be attributed to his story (Tim S. Reed, personal communication, June 11, 2009).
Tim S. Reed was born into a Southern Baptist family and was raised with traditional Baptist beliefs. He began to gain interest in studying other religions around the age of 15; Christianity was just not answering the questions his soul was asking. He was also aware of what many would call powers; whenever he met someone new and made skin-to-skin contact with that person either through a handshake or something similar, he would instantly get a vision of how that person was going to die. He could also see and converse with spirits; he knew he was special and had to somehow find some answers.
Tim tried many different religions in his quest for the truth: Buddhism, Islam, Russian Orthodox, and Scientology among others. He was bearing a locked padlock on his soul, and none of these religions were his key. Paganism presented itself to Tim at the age of 18 and the lock simply shattered. Paganism, and Wicca in particular, answered his questions and made much more sense to him than any of the other religions he had explored.
The challenges of living life as a Wiccan are not few. Though the Constitution of the United States guarantees freedom from religious persecution, Wiccans are forced to either find places to live where they are accepted among their peers or practice their religions in private out of fear of persecution. Because Wicca is still growing and not practiced as predominantly as many other religions in the United States, finding practicing Wiccans can be difficult enough, let alone finding Wiccans from a sect one identifies with (Tim S. Reed, personal communication, June 11, 2009).
To add to the difficulties of living as a witch (Wiccan), Christianity, the predominant religion in the United States, has historically maligned Pagan religions. In Wicca, the Lord is the male half of The One, and the Lord has provided the sky, the space, and the animals. Because of his contribution of animals, Wiccans describe the Lord as a Horned God. Christian propaganda from as far back as the Middle Ages incorrectly described the Horned God as Satan (Tim S. Reed, personal communication, June 11, 2009). Another point to consider is stated by Robinson:
It is also important to realize that some conservative Christians consider all non-Judeo-Christian religions to be Satanic. They believe that when followers of these religions worship their Gods and Goddesses, they are really worshipping Satan and/or his demons. For this reason, they consider Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Wicca, and hundreds of other religions to be either Satanism or inspired by Satan.
(2009, 5)
Perhaps Wiccans incorrectly took this religio ...
