The limbic system controls our decisions of fight or flight, fear and panic or put simply, emotions relating to self preservation. As important and impressive the central core and the limbic system are, the two comprise only about 20% of what we know as the brain.    The cerebral cortex part of the brain is the newest and largest part created through evolution taking up as much as 80% of the skulls capacity, and contains around 70% of the central nervous systems neurons. The cerebral cortex in humans is developed further than in any other species of animals and is what defines our mental processes as human. Nearest to the spinal cord and above the medulla is the occipital lobe that translates visual information and sends it to the temporal lobe for further translation into recognition of complex features such as a human face. The temporal lobe processes emotional information as well, such as anxiety and pleasure.  Other information that is processed by the temporal lobe is smell, hearing and the information that aids in our equilibrium and balance. Sensory information from the skin, muscles, internal organs and our sense of taste are sent to the parietal lobe for processing. Further the parietal lobe might also be responsible for many of our visual and spatial abilities as well. The evolutionary most recent, largest and possibly most complex section of the brain as part of the nervous system is the least understood as well.    The frontal lobe processes information sent to it from the other brain lobes and is most responsible for our ability to reason logically, separating us from any other earthly life form. In this section of the brain functions such as behavior, concentration, emotional control, temperament; problem-solving capabilities and is most responsible for our individual personalities. Our IQ and decision-making abilities including those of morality, perseverance and character is believed to be linked to this part of the brain.
