Four nutritional or physical exercise goals

o

Actions taken to meet each goal

When I forget the water bottle however, I struggle with making the healthy choice at the store or cafeteria. I feel that water should be promoted more and sold more cheaply so that more people would be apt to choose it over a soda. My husband and I are both trying to avoid too many sodas, so we help keep each other accountable. I will be able to measure my success at sticking with these goals every time I visit my doctor for a checkup. I have my blood pressure checked twice a year and that is a valuable opportunity for me to track my levels and ensure that they are not going up higher than they should be. It will be evident that my plan has been effective if my blood pressure stays at a healthy level and my weight is at a healthy level as well. I am lucky in that the health concern I am trying to avoid is one that is routinely checked for at doctor’s appointments. Since knowing that my family has a history of high blood pressure, I have done a bit of research into the symptoms and causes of this disease so I know what to look for and what to avoid. High blood pressure can lead to a variety of life-threatening symptoms and side effects, such as: strokes, heart disease, coronary artery disease, kidney disease, eye diseases, diabetes. Those are all very serious sicknesses so I am focused on sticking to my plan to avoid contracting any of these diseases due to high blood pressure in the future. I want to be alive and healthy to raise my children into adulthood, and Lord willing, see my grandchildren grow up and maybe great-grandchildren. My family helps keep my focus on my health because I want to stay functioning and healthy for as long as my body will hold up so that I can witness all the blessings my family brings me. My pl ...

Currently Student is not drinking enough water daily and has found that it increases the amount of water her body retains, thus also retaining additional sodium. Drinking more water would help to flush the body of the un-needed sodium. Increased Activity One of the most effective means of lowering high blood pressure is to move more. An individual does not need to be a marathon runner or a pro sports player to see the benefits of moving his or her body more often than normal. An individual who exercises 30 to 60 minutes a day most days of the week can reduce his or her blood pressure by four to nine millimeters of mercury according to MayoClinic (2008). Four may not be a large number but if an individual can reduce his or her blood pressure by this number, significant benefits to the body can be had. One of Student’s goals is to begin to exercise more regularly. Due to a too-jammed activity calendar, Student often finds herself pushing exercise to the side to help someone else or work on something that seems more urgent. Student has realized that her health is urgent. Taking the time to take care of herself will help her health and will help her be the best fiancé, mother, friend, and employee she can be. Exercise has always been a four letter word to Student after talking with her family doctor she realized exercise didn’t have to mean working out in a gym. Student’s doctor has suggested that she make an effort to move more. Student can take small steps to help her become more active: parking further from the store than usual, taking the stairs rather than the elevator, and opting to push the cart back into the store rather than leave it in the parking lot. These are all small steps that add up to more steps overall for Student. Student can also participate in play time with her children. Rather than watching her kids play at the park or run in the yard, Student can join in the fun. Student has already started to implement walking into her daily routine. There is a high school in Student’s neighborhood that opens their field house in the evenings so community members can wa ...

My snack will consist of a mix of peanuts, almonds, and dried fruit. My dinner will consist of one serving of meat and bean, grain, and vegetable food groups.   My nutrition goals will also accompany an exercise plan that will consist of a daily 10-minute walk and an aerobic series of exercise three times a week. I keep in mind that that I should not “mix calcium-rich beverages, like milk and fortified orange juice, with foods that are high in iron, since calcium can also inhibit iron absorption” ( Adamidou & Bell-Wilson, 2006, para 8). I will also avoid pairing iron-rich foods with certain grains, such as wheat bran, or with veggies such as spinach, rhubarb, chard and beet greens; these foods contain chemical compounds called phytates and oxalates, which impair iron bsorption   (Adamidou & Bell-Wilson, 2006, para 8). Foreseen Delays-How to Overcome? The major setback that could be encountered during accommodation to my personalized nutrition plan is the factor of decreased iron absorption. As the web site for The World’s Healthiest Foods (2008) also explains, iron absorption could be decreased if the stomach acid level is low and by caffeine found in coffee and tea; to overcome this difficulty, I will avoid caffeine and if I must give into temptation I will only drink caffeinated beverages an hour after having the main meal. Lifestyle changes and healthy diet implementation should lead to my health rehabilitation. In order to prevent set backs in my nutritional and exercise goals, I will describe a cognitional action planning that gives enough knowledge to understand the outcomes and evidence for the usefulness of lifestyle changes. Outcomes and the Evidence of the Plan’s Effectiveness There are two main outcomes such as iron-deficiency nutrition probl ...
