Because advertising is aimed at to its prospective customers it is necessary for researchers to think like their customers to understand what they will best react to. Second, the firm must create both message and budget objectives. Goody Products Inc. must determine their purpose of advertising; the purpose is to inform consumers about The Massage. Generally, the methods for determining advertising budgets include “percentage-of-sales and objective-task methods” (Solomon, et al., 2008, p.412). Third, a company must create the advertisement. To effectively advertize The Massage, the advertisement will employ advertizing appeal by showering the target audience with facts about the product. Fourth, Goody Products Inc. must pretest the message in the advertisement to insure the product has been satisfactorily represented concerning the “product’s market, consumers, and competitors” (Solomon, et al.,2008, p.415). Many firms use the method of copy testing to determine if the advertisement is satisfactorily representing the product and if “consumers are receiving, comprehending, and responding to the ad according to plan” (Solomon, et al., 2008, p.415). Fifth, a company must “choose the media type(s) and schedule” to enable the target audience to receive the products message. Media types Goodie has chosen include television, newspapers, magazines, and through the internet. C. Distribution The Massage will be distributed to “29 retailers throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, and Puerto Rico” (Where to Buy, 2008, para. 1). The categories of retailers that will carry The Massage are specialty and discount stores and through business to consumer e-commerce. The Massage will be sold in beauty supply stores because “ specialty stores have narrow and deep inventories; they do not sell a lot of product lines, but they offer a good selection of brands within the lines they do sell and they often offer a high level of knowledgeable service” (Solomon, et al., 2008, p.514).
