Here is how I solved you problem:

The coffee counter charges $9.00 per pound for Kenyan French Roast coffee and $8.00 per pound for Sumatran coffee. How much of each type should be used to make a 20-lb blend that sells for $8.40 per pound?

x + y = 20
9x + 8y = 8.40

(9x + 8y = 8.40)10               (x + y = 20)40
90x + 80y = 84
       -2

-45x - 40y = -42                    -151.6 + y = 20
40x + 40y = 800                       y = 171.6
-5x = 758
       -5
x = -151.6

I can already tell that this is not right, but I can not figure out what I did wrong. Please help!!!
