Q:Find a public place where you can "people watch". This could be a restaurant or food court, a public place on campus, a bus stop, a mall, etc. Find two adults who are clearly together, but whom you do NOT know. Sit somewhere so that you can see both people, but CANNOT hear them. Watch the two people, paying attention to the nonverbal language that you see between them. Answer the following:
1. Where are you observing these people?
2. Based only on what you observe, what relationship do you think these two people have - are they friends? Spouses? Parent and adult child? Boyfriend/girlfriend? Some other relationship? What nonverbal language makes you think so?
3. Based only on what you observe, what type of conversation are they having, and what emotions are they exhibiting? Are they having a friendly discussion or an argument? Are they angry, happy, sad, or stressed? What nonverbal language makes you think so?
4. Was their nonverbal behavior appropriate for the setting in which you observed them? Why or why not?
