Q:
I was looking for help on my final. It is due in two days. The project is as follows: Bob of Bob's Auto Parts has asked you to create various financial spreadsheets and a written memo to help him understand his finances for his business. SPREADSHEET: Create an Excel spreadsheet with formulas to demonstrate the following examples. Be sure to clearly label each example by using a different spreadsheet tab. Example 1 (Trade Discount, refer to Chapter 8): Using Excel, show how to calculate the discount of an automotive part that lists for $458 with the trade discount series of 12/8/5. Display each discount as well as the final price of the item. Example 2 (Depreciation, refer to Chapter 16): Create a depreciation schedule, using the straight-line method, for a car that costs $2,100, has an expected life for five years, and has a salvage value of $300. Example 3 (Financial Statement, refer to Chapter 20): Prepare the following comparative income statement in Excel and then complete the formulas for the missing values. Be sure to format the percent column to a percent with one decimal place. MEMO: After creating the spreadsheet with the three examples above, write a memo that addresses the following points for Bob's questions and his files: Explain what a trade discount is and why would Bob offer these. Explain what is depreciation and why it might be more applicable for Bob to use sum-of-the-years'-digits method instead of the straight-line method. Explain to Bob why he would want to prepare a comparative income statement, such as what does the amount and percent increase (decrease) columns tell him about his Net Sales from years 2007 to 2008, and give suggestions on what he should do based on this analysis.
