Q:I have to write a conclusion, introduction, and tie this topic of the articles to our group assignment.
My topic is Nonshared Environmental Influences on Individual Differences in Early Behavioral Development: A Monozygotic Twin Differences Study by Asbury, Kathryn; Dunn, Judith F.; Pike, Alison; Plomin, Robert.
Here is the first paragraph to begin my introduction....Stage one of Erikson’s psychosocial development is trust vs. mistrust. In this stage, there is a need for maximum comfort with minimal amount of uncertainty to trust one’s self, others, and the environment (Springhouse Corporation, 1990). Developing trust is never complete and is the first task of the ego. Depending largely on the quality of the maternal relationship to balance trust with mistrust (Davis & Clifton, 1995).
The article Relationships among Paternal Involvement and Young Children’s Perceived Self-Competence and Behavioral Problems looks at how father’s, involvement in parenting effects the toddlers behavior and self-competence. This study supports the Erikson theory by looking at how much interaction with the child by both parents independently. This study shows that without enough paternal support and involvement children develop behavioral and self-competence issues showing us that children need proper parental guidance to develop good self-competence, self-esteem and behaviors (Culp, Schadle, Robinson, & Culp, 2000).
