Q:
For n = 8, d = 1 and g = 2. Increment by 8 the integer value of the shortest length. I need to see all workings out so that I can understand the process for future reference.

American: g+2(n-1)(d2+g2)

European: (n-1)g+2(4d2+g2)

Shoe store: (n-1)g+(n-1)x[(n-1)2d2+g2]

All the number 2s within the brackets are to the power of 2.
