Final Project: Interview Profile

· Resources: Ch. 5 (pp. 213-19); Ch. 6 (pp. 225-38); Ch. 9 (pp. 330-39); Ch. 11 (pp. 441-
46); Ch. 15 (pp. 571-80) in Psychology: An Introduction (12th ed.) Appendix A

· Due Date: Day 7 [post to the Individual forum]
· Interview a person you feel comfortable asking about their personality and attitudes.

· Submit your Profile Report. For this project you will choose a person who is close to your
own age and interview that person to learn more about them. In addition to the interview
compare and contrast the responses from your interview with your own responses to the
same question. You will report your findings in an informative 1,400- to 1,750-word paper,
formatted according to APA guidelines, and containing the following elements:
o Does the interviewee remember information more accurately if he/she observes the
behavior being performed or does he/she prefer to read how the behavior is
performed?
o Does the interviewee prefer studying in a library, or at home where there are
background noises and some distractions?
o Has the person you are interviewing taken the Myers Briggs test? Report the results.
o Does your interviewee feel these results are accurate? Why or why not?
o Which experiences does this person feel contributed most in the development of
his/her personality?
o Does this person feel that he/she is self-monitoring in regards to his/her attitudes?
How or how not?
o What does the interviewee feel was the strongest influence on his/her attitudes?
o What role does your interviewee feel a person’s race, gender, or ethnicity play when
forming that person’s personality and attitudes?
o Does this person feel he/she is better at tasks when intrinsically motivated or
extrinsically motivated?

I have the information and chapters I can e mail you.

**Tips from teacher**

****Note: APA Format~ Avoid the word, “I or user.” Try words like: interviewer, researcher, student, learner, teacher, guide, or other educationally appropriate words. Avoid clichés like, “I feel,” and “I believe.” This is not a paper on how you feel. Do not use contractions.
Remember to submit in the format of APA format written assignment, {written in first-person point of view, with an autobiographical approach.}

****Note: Analysis and research his/her culture, and incorporate your findings into your project. Write as the researcher, not the interviewer ... based on your findings from conducting your interview, research and concepts you have learned from class.

Note: ***Have fun and be creative… The very best papers are very thorough, lots of research and include text diversity concepts; maps, charts, graphics and/or tables enhance your research and polish your material. {APA format} ****Please include headings {italic blue} for all paragraphs.

***In your conclusion paragraph, your final project is a reflection of you… This class has completed several activities that allowed you to examine your own values in the development of psychology as a science and the application of psychology in everyday life. Relax and let it flow…

The introduction is a description of your “interviewee”, but for you to tailor your research as it relates to the development of psychology.

For example:
Introduction

The purpose of this research is to obtain factors about the application of psychology in everyday life. Specifically, it attempts to describe the development of psychology as a science. The author of this research obtained or examined factors that the interviewee experienced, such as personality development, attitudes, and conveys what role the interview feels a person’s race, gender, or ethnicity plays in their personality. {Description of interviewee}

Note: Remember a good researcher states her/his opinions, but support with facts from conducting research. Think of this final project as an analysis of all the coursework that you have completed, but tailored into an analysis that is a reflection of you.

“I” and “You” in the Research Paper

DO NOT use “I” until the conclusion paragraph when you state your own opinion.
In these examples, the statements are actually stronger without “I think” and “I feel”.

Examples: 1. I think this is an overwhelming problem.
2. I feel that steps must be taken to stop this problem.

Note: the final project needs to be more than just a transcript of questions and answers... Include research and omit "I".... write as the researcher... and incorporate your findings.

alison5313 asked: Based on the information you supplied, it seems that you are supposed to interview someone close to your own age, but the interview you have attached is for your mother. You might want to choose someone else. Also what are your responses to the questions?
To which dfreeman2035 said: I had turned in the interview and the teacher was okay with it, so I am not too worried about that, also my mother is the only person I am close to, I recently moved to Germany and have a limited amout of people I know. But then again, these things do affect people and their opinions all the time. 9. Q. Does this person feel he/she is better at tasks when intrinsically motivated of extrinsically motivated? A. Both, but I will do things I enjoy before I will do something I don't! So intrinsic motivation suits me!
