Q:NEED HELP DUE TONIGHT.There are valid arguments for the existence of God by that name or others, however, arguing that creation is proof of God's existence is fallacious. The specific fallacy is called begging the question, and means that in order to give credit to a greater power for creation, one must begin with the premise that this greater power creates in an organized fashion with minute precision. From this premise follows the premise that this being would wish to create us in exactly the form that it/he/she, presumably, has. The conclusion of the argument is that we exist. Basically, the whole line of reasoning is circular, and the final analysis shows that we can not prove that God created existence just by noting that we exist. There are countless other possibilities.
angela on this reply u gave i need response to this from classmate.here's the question from student as 1.I was a little confused by your response. I believe in God, and I also believe that he created our existence. But at the end of your response, that statement made me stop and think. Are you saying that we should question our teachings on whether God really does exists? Because I do believe in God, and He created our existence-Now I wonder who created God and His existences?
2)please answer this reply.I have been anxiously awaiting your reply on this DQ. In an earlier discussion, you professed to being an atheist. My question to you is what do you think about Hume's claim on page 413 of chapter 13 (A verbal dispute?) that theists and atheists are not really that different? I did not really understand this particular claim, but would love to hear your views about what it means to be an atheist.
3) Was Kierkegaard an atheist or believer? Explain.
4)Is God male or female (or neither)? How do you know? What difference does it make?
5)Post your response to the following question: Considering the historical development of religious philosophy, whose philosophies do you think most advanced Western religious thought? Explain your answer.
6)need a reply to classmate about this response.
I think Mary Daly's philosophies advanced Western religion by encouraging women to become actively involved in ministries. I believe it is due to her influence and outspokenness against the male dominance in Churches that enabled women to be active in ministries today. When I was growing up there were very few women who were pastors or evangelist and they were frowned upon. Now, there are several notorious women evangelist. Without the work of Mary Daly, I don't think this would have been a possibility (Encyclopedia of World Biography, 2004).
7)need a reply to this classmate about this response.I believe that Descartes had a significant impact on religious philosophy. Although he accepted his ideas with little trouble; he allowed open involvement for other questions. Many pondered how a person comes about the idea of god? So with his proofs he explained a simple way of understanding god and god's existence. However some found it hardly the justifiable truth that they were looking for. Descartes and his theories opened the door to more questions, gaining more participation in the development of religious thought.
