For theater
tragedy, comedy, tragic comedy, melodrama using plot, climax, foreshadowing and suspense

For dance
Ritual dance, social dance, theater dance, jazz
using energy, space, timing and choreography.

Write a brief essay (maximum of two pages) describing the following three paintings. Do not address the artists’ techniques. For each painting:
A. Identify theme
B. Identify mood
C. Interpret meaning (include personal opinions)
D. Note similarities among the paintings, and
E. Contrast the paintings with one another.

A line, which is the most basic element in painting, delineates an area from point to point. It is used to outline a figure, or to provide direction to the painting. Color can describe a mood of a painting.<br>Balance in a painting can be achieved by the way the artist has positioned shapes and forms in the painting. It can be symmetrical, which is harmonious or asymmetrical which can add interest to the painting.
