The Oracle 9i Database software, an enterprise database specifically designed to manage distributed data (Oracle 2008), would work well in this endeavor. The Oracle 9i meets the current and future needs for a stable and efficient database system.
A distributed database necessitates that all of the Bead Bar's computers be routed through a network and telecommunications system; the database must be configured properly through a network to enable it to operate at full capacity. (Malaga, 2005)
The managers of the Bead Bar have described the features each branch was most interested in or concerned about: unsightly appearance of a wired network, studios interconnected to each other and headquarters, an easier way to send and receive designs, access to corporate office from virtually anywhere, speedier methods of receiving financial data, electronically receive sales data and send marketing material, reduce paperwork and speed up request processing, and the ability to send and receive employee forms electronically. (Malaga, 2005)
Network topology dictates the device layout on a network; although the bus, ring, and star topology are more frequently chosen, the mesh topology will fulfill the needs of the Bead Bar’s executives. A wireless network will resolve any conflict that could arise with wires hanging overhead, or across walkways. Using a wireless network should eradicate the unsightly appearance of a wired system and could help with avoiding the need to move office furniture and décor around into different offices anytime a network needed to be relocated.
A client/server architecture is the best network choice for the Bead Bar because it is extremely powerful and works as both a client a ...

With its rapidly growing business and increasing product demand, Bead Bar has needed to manipulate its networking in order to better function as a company in today’s world. The company needs a high-level computer network design with the intention of providing the company with an effective tool to enhance the company’s functions. Consultation will be provided to the Bead Bar in order to offer guidance towards improvement. Network topologies such as bus, ring, star, mesh, tree and hybrid will be considered to create a helpful network for the company. Aside from discussing recommended network topologies, network architecture will also be talked about along with its advantages and possible drawbacks.
The Bead Bar is a company that allows consumers to create and design their own jewelry consisting of a variety of beads. The term “bar” refers to the fact that when customers come in to the star, they actually sit at a bar putting together their own custom-made bead jewelry. It was an idea that a woman had which turned into a company that continues to grow throughout the country. The company opened up its first store in a town called New Canaan, Connecticut, in 1998. Currently, the Bead Bar has three different types of divisions that include the franchises, studios, and Bead Bar on Board. The client requests the materials he wants and the server connects the client to the desired source. Because there are many computers to be hooked up to this network, having a separate server may be more efficient rather than loading all information on the individual machines. This client-server architecture allows total management of data access ensuring secure connection so that private data is not access unless authenticated.

Advantage:
This simple design solves the basic connectivity issue and all offices can communicate with main office and all other offices can communicate to each other by routing layer-3 data through headquarter. The client-server network can handle multiple requests at same time. It is secure as it limits accessing of files by the use of authentication.

Drawbacks:
The above solution seems simple and practical, but it has a fatal flaw as the whole network relies completely on the main office. It seems an easy option to choose a full-mesh as a better option to connect as it’s most redundant. But, full redundancy means more virtual circuits and more virtual circuit connections means more time spent on setting it up and monitoring the whole network. If there is an emergency like fire, flood etc, it will break the whole network and will make it unusable. It is a good practice to have all data route through the main office, but it is possible to continue ...

The staff may also hire Network Administrators to monitor and secure the network at all times.
• The Bead Bar on Board: By incorporating a main server that connects to all stores, The Bead Bar on Board will have access to the same advantages as those located in physical stores. If the Bead Bar on Board had access to the internet through a satellite, the staff will be able to access the network to process, send, and receive information as those in a physical store. The internet is a large world wide network itself. This will allow those out in the sea to gain world wide access to all Bead Bar Stores and to the database. There are satellite internet providers which will process the information to and from land to the Bead Bar on Board satellites. The Bead Bar on Board may need to make use of GPS services to track it’s location when out in sea.
• Wireless: Each computer will be equipped with a wi-fi adapter. The wi-fi will allow each computer to wirelessly communicate information through low power microwaves too and from the network hub or network router.
